Washington DC

Alright so we finally made it out to the east coast to Washington DC last week! Man was it a fun time and very cold. Us little southern california people are not quite used to freezing weather and a bit of snow. In fact Suzanne and I had to go and buy cold weather jackets and some gloves specifically for this trip. And we are glad we did!! Suzanne had to go to DC for a conference for work and I got to tag along. These pics are from our first day of sightseeing around town.

This is us in front of the white house!

The Washington monument is much bigger than it looks!

Stay tuned for more updates on the rest of our week!

Thanks Mr. H.

Lance and I attended the funeral this morning of a great man, coach and teacher. Mr. Heusser was mine and Cat's basketball coach while we were in high school leading us all the way to beat Pacifica for the 1999 league champions. My mom had called me just last week to tell me that Mr. H. had passed away while he was setting up for a basketball tournament at our high school. I could not believe he was still coaching! Mr. H. was a great part of Santiago High School and he truly had Cavalier pride. Mr. H. taught and coached at Santiago for 46 years, and had every intention of going for 50.

You could tell by the number of people who turned out for his funeral today, he was a man that was well loved and respected by all. Players, ASB members, students, staff and retired faculty joined together today to pay respect to a man who touched so many. His current girls basketball team showed up in their basketball jerseys to show off their purple pride. It was great to see so many of our teammates show up, some that we haven't seen since we all graduated in 1999.

Rachel, Cat and myself were all lucky enough to be taught by Mr. Heusser even though we were at Santiago 10 years apart. He was a great man, and his presence and Santiago is going to be greatly missed.

Mr. Heusser thank you for all you did for your students and players. You touched many lives and we are all going to miss you.

We are getting MARRIED!!!!!!!

Hello everyone! Welcome to our blog. This blog has been designed to keep everyone updated on how our wedding planning is going; along with the happenings of our life together.

Here is a little review of the last four years Lance and I have been together. Lance and I were introduced by my twin sister Cat. Our first date was on a double date with Cat and I knew from that first meeting things were going to work out nicely. We both enjoyed each others company and I was certain he was going to call for another date. Well, I waited and waited for three days until he finally sent me a text message asking me out. How high tech are we! I agreed and that night we met up at Legends in Long Beach for some good food, good beer and some great baseball. Lance and I haven't stopped talking sports since!

Lance and I love to travel and have been to some wonderful places. Together we have been able to travel to New Zealand, Bahamas, St. Maarten, and St. Thomas. Along with many other trips to Arizona, Hawaii, Vegas, Florida and Colorado. I took a trip to France and the United Kingdom and Lance took a trip to Egypt. When do we ever have time to work with all this traveling???

On December 30, 2007 Lance proposed while we were in Hawaii. Of course I said yes! It was a complete surprise and even though I was hoping it was coming soon, I didn't think he was going to pop the question in Hawaii! Now, let the wedding planning begin!!!

Who am I kidding, I've been planning this wedding in my head for the last 4 years! We think we have a place picked out for our ceremony and reception. We are leaving for Washington DC in a few days so I don't want to post the information about our venue yet. We haven't signed any contracts yet and it would be just our luck for it not to be available.

I'll try my best to update while we are in DC. Hopefully they will be having a heat wave while we are there. A girl can hope can't she?

Here are a few pictures from the proposal! Enjoy!
