Aahh, our DC trip. I loved this trip for so many different reasons. Work sent me to DC in February of 2008. See those big coats we are wearing? Ya, we had to buy them before we left for our trip. We are Southern California people, we don't own heavy coats! =) I was so excited to take this trip because Lance was going to be able to come with me. I had never been to DC and he had only been there when he was in middle school (when he threw up, but that's a different story for a different time!). It was awesome being there in 2008 because it was the beginning of the election year. And oh boy, is hind sight 20/20! On every corner, in every store you could buy McCain and Clinton stuff. Not much Obama stuff at the time. Funny how in February he didn't stand a chance, and by November Clinton had lost her steam and Obama was chugging along to become our next President!
I was sent to DC for a 4 day conference and we planned on staying the whole week so we could do some sight seeing. I'm so glad we did! Even though I was the coldest I had ever been in my life, I was still glad to be there exploring a new city with Lance. At one point in our trip we were walking from the Lincoln Memorial to the Capital. Which probably can be done a lot easier when it's not 30 degrees outside! We were continuing on with our trek and I looked at Lance and said, "thank you for asking me to marry you in Hawaii and not here." He busted up laughing and asked why it mattered if it was in DC or Hawaii. Here's the thing, I really really really thought he was going to ask me when we went to DC. It never in a million years crossed my mind that he was going to ask me in Hawaii. I was completely and totally shocked. If he would have asked me in DC where I was suspecting he might the whole time, I would have been walking around without my gloves on (so I could easily slip my new ring on of course!!! ;-) ) I probably would have had frost bite on my fingers. I would have been trying to make sure I was photo ready and I wouldn't have been able to enjoy our trip; waiting and waiting for him to pop the question. And Lord help the poor man if I would have gone home from DC without an engagement! hahahahaha I mean really, how long does a girl have to wait. Just kidding Lance!!! I would have waited forever...........maybe! hehehehe
Lance was also able to introduce me to Scott and Stephanie and their two kids, Nate and Hannah. I just have so many great memories of DC. I'm glad we got to go in February. I learned that I can handle the cold much better than I can handle 100 degree heat with 100% humidity aka Miami in August. That blog will be coming up at a later date!
I love love LOVE traveling with Lance. We make such great travel buddies and we love exploring new things. I also loved when he pointed out the planter that he threw up in, and the bench he had to lay at. He is one funny guy!
Love,
Suzanne

It's a good sign that you guys travel so well together... Ryan and I are that way too, we could be traveling or camping for a week straight, spending all our time together, and when we get back home we still want to spend time together...
I remember Lance's D. C. trip well. I was waiting to hear from him telling me how much fun he was having and instead it was "Mom, I threw up in the Smithsonian." At least, he will never forget that trip!
